tuition Jon has been teaching guitar and bass for many years. His original approach to tuition has seen him working in schools and running workshops across a wide range of styles. He also runs a very successful private tuition business offering individual tuition. As an RGT tutor Jon has seen many students achieve great results in L.C.M grades, with many attaining distinction passes. His enthusiasm for teaching is unsurpassed and he is able to teach guitar and bass to an exceptionally high standard in any style. In January 2009 he became a Licentiate of the London College of Music (LLCM) which means that he is fully qualified to teach students up to Diploma level. Jon was taught for many years by the legendary session guitarist Colin Pincott who worked with everyone from Earth, Wind and Fire to Elkie Brooks in a career spanning four decades. Colin had a massive influence on Jon and encouraged him to learn to play all styles of guitar, showing him the benefits of diversity in musical ability. As a result Jon is now equally happy playing and teaching a Metallica solo, a Chet Atkins country piece, a jazz standard or anything in between. Jon has fused ideas taken from his tutor with his own unique methods to create an approach to tuition which helps students with building repertoire, improvisation, performance, song writing, chord development, scale and arpeggio usage and also the option of taking L.C.M grades on guitar or bass. Jon was commissioned to write a guitar tuition book by the worldwide book publisher, Hamlyn. The book is perfect for beginners and is also a great refresher course for more experienced players. It has everything from caring for your guitar to basic chords, and from scales to sweep-picking. "Play guitar in ten easy lessons" can be purchased here. |
